Congress can try to fool the blind patriotic country the like to lie to, but they won't fool me.
January 24th is going to be the most anticipated and frightful day in Internet history. But we can make Congress's decision for them today. January 18th is international blackout day. Help stop SOPA and PIPA today by blacking out your website.
As an artist, part of a community of artists, we'll all be affected if SOPA and/or PIPA is passed. Artists showing their appreciation for content that is not their's will be sued. A mother uploading a video of her daughter singing Lady Gaga will be sent to prison for five years, websites like YouTube, Tumbler, DEVIANTART, will be shut down without warning. This is not an act to protect peoples' copyrighted material, this is a way for Congress to show the world "who's boss" by taking away what little freedom we have left.
I don't want to be part of the generation that did what they were told by "the man", or "the 1%", or any other antagonist of our current protests.
2011 was one hell of a year for revolutions and I hope for 2012 to be the same, starting with public outrage against these foul bills.
